The MCIP Faculty Administrative Committee (FAC) is the program’s leadership and steering committee. The FAC is composed of eight MCIP faculty members. The Chair of the FAC is the MCIP Program Chair. Five members of the committee hold academic appointments in the David Geffen School of Medicine and three members hold academic appointments in the College of Letters & Science—Division of Life Sciences. The duties of the FAC are the following:
- Evaluates applications of faculty who wish to become affiliated with the MCIP PhD program
- Reviews admission applications, interviews applicants, and decides who will be admitted into the MCIP PhD program
- Advises and meets with first year rotation students
- Makes recommendations about changes to the course curriculum and program requirements
- Finalizes decisions for the Written Qualifying Exam
- Makes decisions and recommendations on student academic cases
