Research Interest
After myocardial infarction (heart attack) and across the spectrum of cardiovascular maladies, the function of the parasympathetic nervous system is severely disrupted and exacerbates pathophysiological remodeling of both the cardiac and nervous systems. My research focuses on the parasympathetic regulation of the cardiovascular system (with an emphasis on electrophysiology and ventricular arrhythmias), how it may dysfunction in the context of myocardial infarction, and how to leverage these novel mechanistic insights into improving the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
